Men of this Village in Rajasthan Marry Twice for This Weird Reason.

I do not think you have ever heard of or came across any tradition weird than this one. The men in the habitation called ‘Ramdeyo Ki Bast’ at Derasar village in Rajasthan marry at least twice and continue this weird custom, which has now been a part-and-parcel of their culture. Here, almost all the adult males have two wives. The interesting part is that they keep both the spouses in the same house and make them share the same kitchen to keep them united.

Why Do They Marry Twice?

The villagers have been following this weird tradition since long ago and they give a very weird reason to do so. Actually, their ancestors re-married because their first wife failed to get pregnant or gave birth to a girl child. This belief is rooted in their lives so deeply that they strongly believe that only the second wife can give birth to a boy child. According to the oldies of the village, they see the second wife as the guarantee of a son. Although, the newer generation is bringing the change and many fellows have not married again.

Happily Re-Married

A teacher stated on this, those who have two wives take good care of both and give equal rights. Their kids also respect their stepmother and get the same in return. No big brawl has occurred yet in terms of this tradition and people are ‘happily re-married’ here.
