Story

Baazaar spins around Rizwan (Rohan Mehra), a highly ambitious small-town stockbroker from Allahabad and his ideal Shakun Kothari who is double ambitious than Rizwan and believes in minting money by hook or by crook. With the ambition to reach Shakun one day, Rizwan starts working with Kishore Wadhwa (Denzil Smith) where he meets Priya Rai (Radhika Apte) and the duo gets into a relationship. After a series of events, finally, the moment comes when Rizwan gets face to face with his ideal Shakun and the duo kicks of a bond, which takes an unpredictable turn as the story progresses.

Screenplay and Dialogues

Penned by the trio, Nikhil Advani, Parveez Sheikh, and Aseem Arora, the first half of the film takes you through the insights of stock-market, the greed of a business tycoon and towering ambitions of a small-town lad. However, the second half fails in some instances to hold the expectations built up by the former. The element of thrill diminishes by abrupt songs and some other narrative flaws.

Dialogues of Bazaar are sharp and offers a perfect support to bring out what exactly a character wants to convey. A thumbs up for the dialogue writer.

Direction

Helmed by Gauravv K Chawla, Baazaar describes the passionate money makers with a depth which we have not witnessed before in Bollywood films. A world which has never been a forte of B-Town storytellers. Gauravv gets full marks for taking the thrill element in the first half higher which he could maintain even in the second, but we blame the script for that.

Why Should I Watch?

Hit the theater for Baazaar because this is probably the first time Bollywood filmmakers are making a foray in the stocks and intrigues associated with it.

Rushi

The Jain touch to Shakun Kothari's character with him using idioms like 'Micchami Dukkadam' (I seek your forgiveness) even as he undermines people's lives shows how thick-skinned he has become. A few grey hair strands, Gujarati dialogues and we have a businessman who loves his family but would also not blink before taking advantage of them and his friends for 'Dhanda' (business).

Saif Ali Khan, fresh from the success of 'Sacred Games', fits in effortlessly as Shakun Kothari.

Apart from the gripping plot, here are some dialogues from the movie that absolutely stand out.
