On this World Autism Awareness Day, let us get some awareness about this disorder. Research says premature infants with less birth weight are suffering 5 times more with this disorder.

Sadly there is little awareness about this health condition and there are fewer efforts to fight this condition. Surprisingly very few people ever understand this condition to the core. In the world, one in every 68 children is suffering from this. Boys are more prone to Autism than girls.

  • Autism can occur early − Autism can occur in children as young as 12 months but can be diagnosed only when once the child is 24 months or older. Unfortunately, no particular test in the pathology lab can confirm Autism. Based on a child's behavior patterns, parents have to come to a conclusion. Parents must keep an eye on the signs of autism in children aged 12 to 18 months and observe their development regularly.

  • Symptoms − Symptoms of Autism can vary from person to person. Reluctance or hesitation in speaking, reluctance to eye contact, lack of socializing and communication are the main symptoms. Autism kids are prone to other health conditions like epilepsy, depression, sleep disorders, and stomach ailments.

Is Autism Curable

Unfortunately, there is no cure for autism. Early intervention and behavioral therapies can help. Speech, occupational and physical therapies can help people suffering from Autism. According to medical research, half of the cases of Autism are resultant due to Mother's stress and mental health when the child is in the womb. Alternative medicines like Homeopathy can be tried under guidance.
