The classification of things while describing and naming them can be understood as Taxonomy. This helps to identify any developmental and experimental work that needs to be done.

Simply put, why would anyone mix the shoes in shoe rack with the bed sheets in a cupboard? Taxonomy is our inheritance where we define the places to which they belong. In the same way, it provides an easy to identify the categories of the species so as to have an idea of the existing conditions and to plan necessary measures for the biodiversity conservation.

What is Bio-diversity Conservation?

Bio-diversity is regarded as the foundation of whole eco-system services. It is obvious that human beings are also linked with it. Bio-diversity helps maintain stable eco-systems, which means the greater the biodiversity, the healthier the ecosystem is. It describes all the living things, ecosystems, plant and animal species, genes and landscapes. The survival of animals and insects protects the soil from getting eroded, which avoids drought and flooding.

Conserving the natural resources and maintaining balance in the levels of ecosystem helps to pass on the same natural and beautiful world to our progeny. Along with the maintenance of health, the development of arts and sciences also lies in protecting our natural sources.

What Has Taxonomy To Do With It?

The conservation of species requires taxonomists, legislators and conservation biologists. In order to understand biodiversity and conservation, some knowledge on taxonomy is required. How do we ever know what is lacking without actually knowing what do we have?

The classification enables to have species recovery plans, habitat protection, and restoration. The taxonomic information also enables to detect and control the invasion of Alien Species. Taxonomists help to offer the eradication of such alien species with benign methods, without affecting the environment.
