Gloomy faces, tears in the eyes and a controversy. Moreover, the parents were also seen getting irritated with the management and staff. This is the view of a cinema hall in Hyderabad where the recent release ‘Veere Di Wedding’ and its certificate caused a lot of nuisance for the aforementioned folks.
The whole matter belongs to the ‘A’ certificate the latest film starring Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsani ‘Veere Di Wedding’ has received and most of the teenagers, as well as the parents, had no clue about it because it was passed by the censor board only a few days before its release. Moreover, a very little info was shared with the public regarding the certificate, which further caused everyone a great deal of trouble.
Thronged with derogatory language, abusive words, and obscene presentation, the film made a lot of buzz the moment its trailer was rolled out. Despite such content, it incited a great inquisitiveness among the masses, especially the youngsters and teenagers, and obviously how could it make to the cinemas with any other certificate other than ‘A’ from our exceptionally ‘generous’ censor board.
Besides, the filmmakers showed no resistance to the affair of tagging their film with such certificate because they already cleared that their film targets a certain audience. According to Shashanka Ghosh, the director of the film,
“We could easily get a U/A certificate from the censor board, but would you like to watch a film with the beep sound occurring every time someone gets engaged in a conversation in the film and testing your patience?”.
“No, right?. This is what we claimed when we presented our film to the board, which flashed a razor-edged scissor after having a look at it”, Shashanka adds jestingly.
