The two leaders - Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron - are scheduled to land in Varanasi today to inaugurate a solar plant in Mirzapur district and visit the Trade Facilitation Centre here today.
After the formal meeting held in Delhi between the two leaders, India and France co-hosted the first summit of the International Solar Alliance on Sunday.
French President Emmanuel Macron, arrived at Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, Varanasi on Monday and was received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh (UP) Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. A traditional welcome with the showering of flower petals, Shehnai recital, and chanting of ‘Shukla Yajurveda’ mantras by a team of 121 priests, was performed. Despite this, the sound of ‘shankh’ and ‘damru’ filled the air during the welcome ceremony.
After a grand welcome of Macron, the leaders inaugurated the 75MW Solar Power Plant in Mirzapur which is the largest solar power plant in UP. They then proceed further for a boat-ride from Assi to Dashaswamedh Ghat to visit the Deen Dayal Hastkala Sankul in Bada Lalpur, a trade facilitation center for handicrafts. Following the boat ride, both the leaders will flag off the newly launched train between Manduadih Varanasi, and Patna Railway Station. Later on, Macron would be staying for next few hours and will be dropped back to Delhi in a special plane.
Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate banking services of the Utkarsh Bank which specializes in micro-finance. On Friday, Modi has a plan to visit Tulsi Manas Temple in Varanasi and will release a postal stamp on Ramayana. His Saturday plan includes the participation in a sanitation-related program in Shahanshahpur and will distribute the certificates to beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
According to his reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate several projects which would cover the sectors like infrastructure, railways, financial inclusion and sanitation. Among highlighted projects to be inaugurated, one is Modi will be the flagging off of the Mahamana Express train which would connect Varanasi with Surat and Vadodara in Gujarat.
Adding to this, some other projects which are soon to be inaugurated by PM Modi include Utkarsh Bank, 'Jal Ambulance' (water ambulance) service and 'Jal Shav Vahan' (water-based vehicle for carrying bodies) services for the development. As per the reports, Modi will be inaugurating some 17 infrastructure projects which Ramnagar-Samne Ghat bridge, Balua Ghat bridge, and Ramna Sewage Treatment Plant as well.
