No One Now Can Point Out Tampering In EVMs As The Advanced M3 EVMs Are Ready for the General Elections 2019

The Election Commission of India is ready with the advanced M3 category EVMs for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. M3 here refers to the Third Generation. The best part of these EVM is that it is equipped with a tamper detection feature, which means any attempt of tampering will result in seizing the EVM. If it’s restarted, the message of ‘Tamper Detect’ will be flashed on the screen.

The Feature-Rich Advanced M3 EVMs:

  • It has a ‘Self-Diagnostic’ feature, which will trigger a message in case of any tampering. For instance, if the 12th number button of the ballot does not work, it’s message will appear on the screen immediately.
  • There is a Real Time Clock and the machine does not require the manual setting. This clock will show the correct time of voting. The voting cannot be done again if the polling in EVN is closed.

  • There is a power-saving mode to save the battery. The EVM will go to the power saving mode automatically if not used for a specific time-period. It will also show the battery percentage as well as the message for ‘when to change it’.
  • The printout of polling data can be taken. The new EVM will have 24 ballot unit attached which means for 384 contestants, only one control unit is enough.

Recently, about 2400 EVMs of the M3 category were sent to Jalandhar for testing and their first level checking is going on at the State Patwar School. The whole testing is under the vigilance of the district administration. The administration has also invoked political parties to be a part of the testing and put forth their suggestions on the same.
