Narendra Modi lays foundation stone for Navi Mumbai International Airport

Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the new Navi Mumbai International Airport on Sunday 18th February 2018. He said, “Globalisation is a reality of our times and we need to maintain right pace by building the top-notch infrastructures.” Moreover, he addressed the efforts put by the government in improving the waterways and inaugurated the fourth container terminal at Jawaharlal Nehru port.

The Navi Mumbai airport issue has been pending for many years. Many governments came but in their tenure, there was no materialization with regard to the new airport. However, this is not the only project that is pending, there are many other such projects that needs to be addressed yet. That's why the Pragati initiative was started to give priority to the completion of projects. “In our country, the aviation sector is growing significantly and currently 450 planes are operational and 900 new planes will be bought this year,” he said.
