AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) is a syndrome caused by a virus called HIV and can be transmitted through sexual, perinatal and blood transmission. The disease alters the immune system of an individual and makes it much more vulnerable to infections and diseases. These symptoms worsen when the effects of the syndrome progress.

As we know, around the world the number of HIV positive patients is increasing and people are dying due to the lack of proper treatment. Well, in some highly developed countries like the USA, treatment is available but is very costly. So, in a country like India, which is still developing, it is costing a fortune for them to get the treatment outside the country. But, now this has changed, as the Indian government has taken a step to provide a solution for HIV positive patients.

Hetero Healthcare Ltd. is the first drug company which has launched the drug for HIV in India. Hetero had launched generic anti-retroviral fixed-dose combination (FDC) of Emtricitabine (200mg) and Tenofovir Alafenamide (25mg). This can be used for the treatment of HIV-1 in adults and pediatric patients above the age of 12 years. The medication can be induced in a combination of anti-retroviral agents.

This HIV treatment drug has been approved by the Drug Controller General of India and also very soon it will be marketed and distributed under the brand name ‘TAFERO-EM’ by Hetero Healthcare Ltd. Hopefully, the HIV affected people in India can take a sigh of relief, and we should see a decline in the graph of deaths caused by HIV.
