The St. Valentine's Day, or simply a Valentine's Day, is celebrated every year on 14 February. It's the day when people show their care for other people by sending gifts, cards, flowers or chocolates with messages of love.

Since 1994, eCards have totally changed the greeting card business. While various greeting card companies make both printed and digitized love cards, many companies still prefer to concentrate on either one format or the other. Here's a list of 10 of the most famous greeting card companies.

Among them, the top-selling firm is the hallmark. The company started to design and sell their own specialized Valentine's Day cards in 1916.

Hallmark Founded in 1910 as a postcard company, Hallmark has evolved to be one of the most popular greeting card companies in the world. Realizing the popularity of postcards after the turn of the century, Hallmark soon began producing Christmas and Valentine's Day cards and sold the first commercially-produced gift paper wrap in 1917. 

Always an innovator, In 10+ Years, Hallmark has also branched out into Christmas tree embellishments that are avidly assembled by craft lovers and creative enthusiast. 

Recently, Hallmark created a website for its commercial line of digitized eCards. With that said, ever imagined how much could the biggest card-selling name be making?  

The business of greeting cards is remarkably worthwhile. According to the Greeting Card Association, nearly 6.5 billion greeting cards are bought in America each year, with the direct sales of greeting cards calculated to be between $7 and $8 billion.

The GCA mentions 145 million Valentine's Day cards are bought each year, besides Christmas cards, which are the most liked seasonal cards. According to CNN, there are 1,400 diverse varieties of Hallmark Valentine's Day cards in distribution. 

So, how much does Hallmark make from trading sappy-sweet cards? As per the company, they say. "Hallmark is a privately operated organization so we don't release sales insights," Kristi Ernsting, public relations spokeswoman for Hallmark told Mic. "But we do share a guess for the number of Valentine's Day cards exchanged each year: 131 million."

In January, Hallmark announced a drive titled #CareEnough, which "highlights the true love stories of genuine couples". The campaign stars several video interviews of gay, interracial, and other couples from diverse culture.

"Valentine's Day provoke people to say what's truly in their hearts," Rob Reeder, Hallmark's marketing head of greetings, said in a statement. "As exhibited by this campaign, our Valentine's Day cards encourage people to find the expressions and words to express themselves in a deeper, meaningful way than with a text or message.
