What is the federal government and what does it do?

A federal government is a form of government that divides various powers between a national government and a local government. The federal government is also known as central government. 

The federal government usually has a lengthy and rigid constitution which specifies things which are under control by the local state government and national government. Federalism is sometimes known as the best system of government as it helps in integrating diverse nations, different combatant parties, and ethnic groups.

Functions of the Federal government:

• The federal government generally exists in the large countries like Australia, Mexico, Canada, United States, etc. Federalism protects the country or state from tyranny thus ensuring the well-being of the country.
•  The federal government helps in increasing effectiveness, increasing human power or power of citizens and also have the integrated system of dispersing powers to the national and local government.
• The federal government also controls the power of decentralization i.e. transfer of powers from one form of government to another.

Branches of the federal government:

• The federal government has three distinct branches judicial, legislative and executive whose powers are in the control of the president of the republic and the federal court.
• The executive government generally deals with cabinet and putting laws and decisions into effect. The judicial form of federal government deals with the administration of justice.
• The judiciary also provides a system for the resolution of disputes. The legislative form of federal government has the power to make laws, approving treaties, initiate and spending bills and impeaching officials.

• The legislative branch consists of a senate and house of representative. Congress or the house of republic has full control over all form of federal government and has the power to resign officer from the house.
