What are the negative sides of being the youngest one in the family?

Youngest ones are always considered as the heartbeat of a family. All family members love them, pamper them, do everything possible for them, never being angry with them and whatnot. If a family member goes out, though he can forget some major stuff but never misses a chocolate for the little one. This is just a common example, but if you think little more and deeply there are many advantages to be the younger one in the family, at least you will always get a gift from someone.

But, why again we will talk about the good side, let's check out some bad side of being the younger one. I know, many of you, who are the younger ones might be wondering that, is there any bad side as well? where else many of you must be counting how many actually it would be?? But despite many advantages, there are some disadvantages as well.

So, without making your mind full of confusion, let's explore few things which show, it is bad to be a younger one in a common Indian family. These examples are very common from childhood till being mature ones:

  • Every time you have to obey the orders of elder ones. For examples., dear, please bring a glass of water for me.
  • You have to wear your elder sis/bro’s school uniform or old clothes. (I know it is very common)
  • For small things, you will be dependent on elder ones. E.g., Wrapping/Covering of your school-book, notebooks; putting the liner on your eyes by an elder sister (commonly faced by young sisters) and many more.
  • You always have to ready for “cheek pulling” by elder one’s friends.

  • You have to use stuff of your elder ones, like toys, compass-box etc.
  • If you are going out of station for a long period, you have to take multiple permissions.
  • You always have to ready for leg-pulling in a fun and casual ways by elder cousins/siblings.
  • It makes you dependent on others for various things and especially for decision making quality.
  • There will be fewer chances when they will ask your opinion on a big family matter.
  • It becomes very difficult to discuss something against the elder ones because it could be treated as an argument.

  • You will always be treated as a kid only, either you are a CEO of a company, a spouse or a parent.
  • Decision making is always done by elders, and not the younger ones.

I think many of you can relate few things to yourself and your siblings/cousins. Please share some of your experience and let others know about your opinion.
