Bhringaraj is known as ‘Kehraj‘ in Assamese and ‘Karisalankanni’ in Tamil. It is a medicinal herb that grows in moist areas. It is very useful for growth for hair and improving the condition of hair.
Usually, the Bhringaraj, oil which is available in the market, is a combination of many useful oils and oilseeds such as Light Liquid Paraffin (Mineral Oil), Bhringraj (Eclipta Alba), Amla Ext (Emblica Officinalis) and Sesame Oil (Sesamum Indicum). Some brands also use amla seeds in this oil.
Some other brands profess to include a huge number of beneficial ingredients in proportionate quantities, such as Mandur, Saussurea Lappa or Kuth, Lawsonia Inermis or Henna, Mulethi or Yashtimadhu, Callicarpa Macrophylla or Priyangu, Rubia Cordifolia or Manjistha, Terminalia Chebula or Haritaki, Terminalia Bellirica or Bibhitaki, Pterocarpus Santalinus or Lal Chandan and others.
The various constituents of this oil really help in reducing the reckless fall of hair as it has Antidandruff, Antimicrobial, Antifungal, Anti-inflammatory and Antipyretics properties. It restores the hydrolipidic film of the scalp skin, and thus increases hair growth from the roots directly.
The oil is ideal for all hair types and must be applied gently with mechanical pressure in circular motions to improve blood circulation onto the scalp. Also, since the oil has a cooling effect, leaving it overnight might not be the best way in winters. But, it is good in summers.
