What are some of the animal rescue centers in India?

There is a great problem for stray, lost and useless animals in India. They need human care and protection as well. However some organizations have come up and doing good work for these animals. Some of these rescue and rehabilitation centers are being given below.

People for animals (PFA):

It is one of the largest animal welfare organizations in Bangalore with nationwide network. It works to rescue and rehabilitate for the sick and abandoned animals. Currently, this organization has 165 units, 26 hospitals and 2.5 lakhs members in India.

Animal Aid Unlimited:

It is vital rescue center for injured and ill street animals in Udaipur, Rajasthan. It was started by young people in the year 2003.  By the year 2015, 50,000 animals were treated.

Compassion Unlimited Plus Action (CUPA):

This organization was founded in the year 1991 and established seven successful centers in Bangalore. It has centers throughout India mainly Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Maharashtra etc.

Friendicoes:

This organization is working for the last 3.5 years and is situated in New Delhi. It looks after and finds homes for abandoned animals and also runs a mobile clinic.

Red Paws Rescue:

It is run by an NGO doing brilliant work in Delhi and mainly seeks to rescue stray and abandoned dogs. It also does mass sterilization of stray animals in Delhi.

Blue Cross of India (BCI):

The Chennai based philanthropic body was established in 1959 with the aim to rehabilitate abandoned, injured, and disabled animals. It is home to all kind of creatures.

The Bombay Society for the prevention of Crueilty to animals (BSPCA):

This organization is running for over 134 years and provides help and relief to all animals in Mumbai city.  Its hospital works 24 hours a day and treats around 10,000 animals every year.

Sanjay Gandhi Animal Care Centre (SGACC):

It is situated in New Delhi and was founded in 1980. It is equipped with special care units, OPD clinics, dental care, operation theatre and much more. It is Asia’s largest animal care centre in New Delhi.
