Mercy Killing is nothing but killing the patient who is suffering from incurable disease.This also called Euthanasia, which means deliberately ending the life of a person to free someone from physical suffering. Euthanasia laws are different in each country.

It is categorized in three ways which are Voluntary, Non Voluntary and Involuntary.

  • Voluntary Euthanasia: It is nothing but asking patients permission. It is legal in some countries.
  • Non-Voluntary Euthanasia: Which means patients are not under the condition to give permission like small children or maybe in the coma. It is illegal in all the countries.
  • Involuntary Euthanasia: It is equal to Murder as there is no permission from the patient or from his family and relatives.

A lot of debate is going on for discussing Euthanasia legalization. There is a person called Ezekiel Jonathan who is against the Euthanasia, proposed and presented four main set of reasons:

a)that every individual has a right to self-determination, and therefore ought to be allowed to decide on their own fate;

b) helping an issue to die can be a higher selection than requiring that they still suffer

c) the excellence of passive mercy killing, that is commonly permissible, and active mercy killing, that isn't substantive (or that the underlying principle–the philosophical system of double effect–is unreasonable or unsound) and

d) allowing mercy killing won't essentially result in unacceptable consequences.

Legal status of Euthanasia:

Euthanasia is generally considered to be killing a person.

  • According to law, court Homicide is killing a person by another.
  • Few governments have legalized the Euthanasia but most commonly it is still considered to be a crime Homicide.
  • The Netherlands legalized Euthanasia in 2002, Whereas in India it is still a debate.
